Found my first real gold, in the crawlspace :)

Hey all,,,
It was too cold and windy to get out and detect, so I decided to get back down into the crawlspace of this old house.
Found my first real gold, a 14k gold chain at 7" inches long. I'm not sure if it's old, or not, but I know most of the stuff down there is pretty old. I also found another cork-top bottle. It's been painted with that old greenish/grey paint and measures about 4-1/2" x 1-3/4" x 1-1/8". Next was a little compact type item that reads, : Merry Gardens - Rigaud Paris - Perfumeur ", on the front, and still has the mirror in the backside. Last were the two marbles, the green, white, and clear one is the same size as a regular marble, but the other white one is much smaller... I still haven't found any coins, but with all the old stuff that's down there I'm sure if I do it will be an old one. still a lot of ground to cover under there, so it will keep me busy for quite awhile...

congrats on the cool old stuff. judging by the age of the other items i would guess that the chain probably has some age to it. sound like you have a unique spot to hunt. thats using the ol noggen!

Now that's ingenuity, Leon. When we had snow on the ground, I was asking everybody I worked with if they had dirt floors in their basements. I do have a couple of prospects if I get desperate.

These finds weren't found with a detector though. I just sift through the dirt down there. It's a little project I started on last winter. I save it for days like today, when I get that itch to find something and it's just too cold to get outside... Some of you may remember a few of the things I found last year, wasn't much, but it was interesting,,, You can see what I found last year at the bottom of this page:

Most of what I find is still just in one spot. A place in the corner where there's what's left of an old wooden basket. I think I found the remains of an old trunk today also. The stuff looks as if it hasn't been touched in years. We've lived in the house for over 20 years, and I'm just now going down there... Luckily, the space is a few feet tall and I can do the duck walk over most of it...
Also, I don't stay down there too long, just long enough to get a fix, and that's about it...

Awsome finds....Its funny cause earlier i was lookin at my crawl space of an old farm house im stayin in. outside i found some gr8 stuff but i got to thinkin the crawl space might be where my gr8grandpa or the people that lived here before hid all the good stuff.. to bad its not enuff space to duckwalk.. ill for sure figure somethin out.. thx for the crawl space push Leon
