Finally...

I've lived in south central Louisiana my entire life and have always been an enthusiast of pre-history. Because of the area I lived in, I resigned myself to the fact that I would never find a point of any kind in situ. Anyway, I just moved to Biloxi, Mississippi last week, and have been walking the beach every morning.

Well, this is this mornings finds...I'm so excited I swear I almost cried. I finally found my first point...and it was on a public beach in "downtown" Biloxi, MS...only a mile or so from the casino area. Ha!

I found one point and a few pottery shards. Most are plain, but one was still has some decent incised checkering on it.

Again, I'm so frickin excited...

I’d be searching towards the eroding banks...?

Very nice find!
Up here in New England, we have archaic points made of Argillite that quite resembles the lithic your point is made of. I don’t know if this lithic was used in your region.
Some have said that your point is possibly a Pickwick. That may be a good ID.
I would lean toward a GARY due to its broken stem having a tapered look to it. This would place it’s age within the late Archaic Period.

Just my two-cents.

Congratulations!
