Found my first "Gold Ring" today.........

It was at my old high school-- about 4 inches down..... It registered 14 on my DFX with the coin program... The ring is a 1969 10K white gold class ring. Also found 99 cents in change before the rain really started falling hard. The ring was a thrill as I had only found a silver ring and a bronze? ring before. I know that this is small potatoes compared to the mega-star detectors on this board, but I'm smiling anyway....LOL

Congrats on your ring...

the first gold is always such a rush!! No gold is small potatoes and ask these "mega-stars" who post here and they will say the same, gold is gold and always a great find!! I hunt for my pleasure and all my finds are great to me. I hope ring #2 comes quicker and maybe instead of a ring it will be a gold coin!!

the first gold is always such a rush!! No gold is small potatoes and ask these "mega-stars" who post here and they will say the same, gold is gold and always a great find!! I hunt for my pleasure and all my finds are great to me. I hope ring #2 comes quicker and maybe instead of a ring it will be a gold coin!! Thanks for the congrats, and I didn't mean any disrepect towards those that find a lot of stuff, as I am in awe of their findings(which requires skill and dedication to this find hobby). Yes, a gold coin wpuld really be something to find..

Still Looking Around To Find It. It'll will be a big thrill for you, I will bet. When reading the posts of others that have found rings and other treasures, it give one a little more determination to dig those tab numbers. Gregg even has me digging more pennies after his story of finding a gold ring after removing two pennies first, before he got the 14 VDI on his DFX

Thanks Nash. I only got to cover a small part of the school grounds as the rain shut me down. I am using a hole plugger of 2 and 1/4 inches in diameter, so my holes are small and easily filled, so I won't be leaving huge tracks. It was amazing that the ring was in the direct center and was not marred by the plugger.

Keep @ it and HH!! Thanks Mud, reading this board's posts gives one many hints on where to look and what to dig. I hope that you find many rings and I can find some others to keep this ring company. But since, this is a small school, I may try to track this individual down. These are senior classes of 30 to 40 people, so by checking the initials against the class picture should let me know which person lost it.

Its all about whats under that coil, I have hunted (in my few 10 months) some great old spots and found some great old coins but NEVER A GOLD YET (ring or coin). So I'd say you got it going on, Way To grow!!
