I went hunting with a friend which was fun. We both found artifacts. I found this small preform or Hoe. Not a ax or axe my mistake. HH, rock

Hey now that's not fair that's not at all what this said before..lol... Kinda makes my responses look silly
It did look kind of like a Guildford axe.. I could see how you thought that

I didn't want people to come in and think it was a axe so I changed it. Newbies might get the wrong idea on what they find. Its my 1st whatever it is in that shape. Thanks for the help Gator.

Well we got it narrowed down to a tool.Nice find Rock and from what I've seen of your posts an uncommon find.Seems like things have been picking up lately for you Rock.I saw the ground in my backyard yesterday even if it was over my septic tank....mjm

I am finally learning and understanding my creek as to where and how to look. I cant just narrow that down to 1 creek though I have permission for 4 creeks now. Thanks

Rock, ugly hoes are always fun to pick up. True in all aspects of life! Ummm... Maybe not, anyway. The curvature on that piece is something I see pretty regularly around here. I think they are an adze/gouge. Kinda like the spork, really. I think they were used for canoe production. Now, that's my conclusion based on my finds. Nothing more. I've never had a concrete answer from anyone on that type bit.

I think the width would make it very difficult to use as an adze.
Like said a few posts back.. That's just my assumption.
It is rather wide for an adze.

But then guys here were using these.
Gotta remember that when making dugout canoes they were offer burned then chipped then burned..ect

No clue why its sideways

I'd call yours a hoe....though

All interesting suggestions as to what it might be. Thanks for the help at least we all agree that is has been worked. I guess axe is still on my list for finds.
