lump of iron?

chub

Not a meteorite, as indicated by this photo, but keep looking, they are out there, :icon_thumright:B2AD6404-E1BD-41F3-A192-3D960AF31928.jpeg

No visible characteristics of meteorites. Attraction to magnet is meaningless by itself. Color and visible texture indicate possible iron slag.

If you have an interest in meteorites, pick up a few handbooks. Visit websites of certified meteorite labs.

Time for more coffee.

So what am I looking for the descriptions are confusing of what real vs leverites are. Any good key things I need to know to differ between meteorite and non meteorite

What you found has internal vesicles (bubbles). Bad sign for meteorites. Really bad sign for meteorites if vesicles are large or present in substantial numbers, or if seen at all in a suspected nickel-iron meteorite. Really good sign for man-made slag and volcanic terrestrial rocks.
