Found in ww1 Canadian encampment

Hi, I found this item in a ww1 encampment.In the past I found Highlander badges in same zone but also a womans brooch not too far away.It has a thistle type design on it and was gold gilted at one time. Thanks for the help. HH..Panz

Yes, notice its decorated where it would be seen even when it had something hang from it.

It naturally looks like a picture hook,
but there has been at least one similar find here on TNet before.
