The outer part of an old bicycle bell? Or perhaps the cap to an old lamp...but the dome seems too deep, and why would that be in a park?

Non-magnetic yet looks like rust on the underside. At first I thought lid to incense burner but no holes on the outside that I see, also doesn't look like India finger bell. ???

Is that a wood screw that shows inside or a broken bolt?
Minelabex1000, I don't believe it is a wood screw. It is rusted and hard to tell just what it is, but I was thinking it may be from the lift knob on top. Joe

The top portion of old desk bells to request attention from service attendants. Most commonly seen in old movies at hotel scenes were the patron is requesting attention from the desk clerk. The more ornanate the classier the hotel.Made from Brass or copper or cobination of the two. They would not be magnetic.See photo's included.

theres no ding marks on the bell, i think your wrong,it goes to a decanter of some type.
a desk bell would have a moveable shaft going down through the center not a screw, and the part's would cantilever up to ding it ,plus the button to hit would be flat not pointed.

Just my 2 cents, but it reminds me of the retainer portion of a lamp that hold the glass shade either upright (on a desk lamp) or inverted (on a ceiling fixture)...might check it out in your searches~CO2

Hi,
I am new to this hobby and this site, but I collect old telephones. This is a bell or some sort. It is threaded and went on to a post. It appears too elaborate for bycycle or common bell. A great find. RockinR
