It could be a hitch pin for pulling farm equipment or a wagon. Give us a better idea of size.

It looks more like a big spike nail than a hitch pin to me. Hitch pins typically had less of a point and more of a "head" so it wouldn't fall through the hole in the hitch. But agree a size reference would help. Weird that the point looks pretty sharp in one view, but rounded on the other.

I have found many over the years in fields.
Granted they're no as sharp looking as this one, but they're survey pins.
In field locations the pins are moved around from plowing etc...

Could they be used for splitting wood ?

Agree. What kind of areas are you hunting fields, parks, house yards ? Might help us narrow it down for ya.

I'm going with spike tooth harrow. View attachment 2191126
Just a thought on these. The photo shows a very defined edge/point.
The spikes from a tooth harrow would have wear, and old enough this wear would be defined more on the one side.
Just thinking about it, that's all.
I guess it would help knowing the size of the item posted.

I agree! Good call!
Mine is flat like a sword tip, dagger or knife blade would be. Here's what I found like it. And when I looked a hitch pin up I found nothing resembling what I have. The same for servey stakes nothing close. But when I google lens it this is what I get.

Sure is smaller than first thgt so DEF not a survey pin. Was there anything else found with it?
