Great guesses guys and gals. As soon as the ground dries a little more I will be back out there, I'm sure there are more to be found. I'm still waiting for someone to show me a picture of what they really are. Until then, they are still a mystery to me.

Ummmmmmmmm........Lets see, I wonder if Piggman1 would go for this ? I copy his pics, which are identified as lugnuts, then include them with a post, claiming thats what they are !
Heh,heh,heh.....I snatch the prize and no one's the wiser....cool !

Todd

Tsk tsk. Didn't your momma ever tell you "cheaters never prosper?" Now get that idea out of your head and go to your room.

Well geewhiz, first sneaky idea I've had in years and now I must go to my room.....aww fooy ! lol

Thanks for the laugh TreasureTales !

Those are slingshot tag projectiles. When shot from a slingshot the tumble and whistle giving the target a chance to duck.At the end of the game you compare you welts and can determin scoring by the impeded images.

Hey Piggman1...........I was reading my latest issue of Western & Eastern Treasures

magazine this evening, which prompted me to pass along the following suggestion.

I realize this thread has been a lot of fun for forum members and viewers and I'm not

suggesting bringing this to a halt at all, but FYI personally, why not submit photos to the

"Ask Mark Parker" department for identification ? Details and instructions can be found on

page 14 of the latest August, 2007 issue. If Mark can identify your find and decides

to publish it in the next magazine issue, well then, I guess the game's over, so to speak.

In this current issue, Mark identifies a "tatting shuttle" (similar to a sewing bobbin), so I

would assume he tries to I.D. a wide range of items.

Hope this is helpful and Good Luck !

LOL .... I always look at this website and never thought I knew anything. Well... I dont know exactly what those things are for BUT I do know that it is from the NETBALL WORLD CUP. Not basket ball... but NETBALL, you use a volleyball( appears on one) and you through it into a free standing net (like basketball, but its on a pole, kinda hard to describe) and you cant dribble the ball, I havent played it since i was 10, so i cant really remember the rules.... So i guess its some sort of memorabilia from one of the world cup games.

They are nothing, they were put there for Dave to find by little spacemen in that little black UFO to drive us all " NUTS " HH

Desertfox

Heres my theory....The gym coach would use these to split the class up into groups for different activities. Probably enough for each student so they could each draw a token. Would be a kinder way of choosing teams rather than having poor little billy being picked last again. Sound logical ???

Yeah, lets give a bunch of antsy kids these metal lugnut things. Whose going to be the first to get whacked with one? The kid who was going to be picked last. That's logical to me. ;D

Daryl

I like the spaceman theory, even though the net ball thing sounds pretty logical. Since no solid proof of any of these ideas have surfaced, I think I will have to go with Desertfox on this one so far.

I have Googled it and it is logical, but there is no mention anywhere of a world cup netball. They use a whole different symbol for their world games, and I found no items anywhere that looked like these.

I guess this is one that you just have to say HMMMM to. I can't believe I found something modern that can't be identified by all the experts on here. That just makes them that much more special. Thanks all, I know you gave it your best.

Hey Piggman. I'm not done. I actually have an email from an expert who says what they are. I am not posting until I get confirmation and some information about exactly how and when they were used. So don't give up on us yet. We'll get it.

Daryl

Hey Tony,

The mind's the second thing to go. ;D

Daryl .........Good Work and hope you get it right ! We are all anxiously waiting to know !!!

Todd

I am really close and don't want to post until I'm dead sure. I've got some emails out for confirmation so if they respond, I'll have it. If not, I'll have to find other sources who can give me the same information.

Keep your fingers crossed. I've had leads on other stuff evaporate. I hope this one holds.

Daryl

The excitement is killing me waiting for you to post.

If my sources dry up, I may have to jump off a bridge.

Daryl

Don't do that, they're only space sports nuts.

What's the word professor, any new news yet?

I don't know if "Netball" applies or not, but I don't think it was ever an Olympic sport.

The three "nuts" show;
1) the Olympic symbol, (which doesn't get used unless authorized),
2) a ball that appears to have an octagon pattern and
3) the "World Cup" which could refer to the FIBA basketball world cup.

You might check the web for authorized users of the Olympic symbol. I would think there would be a website specifically for that.

Just my 2 cents worth.

F.
