Found First Seated in a SMALL way!

Just finishing up a quick sunrise hunt when the wife texted me the kids were up and I had to help get them off to school. 20 feet from the end of the row I get a high tone on the Deus. It gives me a double signal so I know it's less than an inch down. Saw a small disc which appeared silver, but this place never gives up silver, only 1600's and 1700's coppers. Boo hoo, right? Gave it a light rub and I see "half dime"! Wahoooo - first seated and it's one of these little guys. Great condition too. Too bad it has the arrows but whatever. I was so pumped I was yelling "f yeah! Seated baby!" in the car on the way home. Check that one off the list...

Great Find

Even With the Arrows & 1853 P's High Mintage it still worth about the same as many
Seated Half Dimes With Out the Arrows.

IMO-'I would keep it , Just as it is'

"Too bad it has the arrows" Actually, seated coinage with arrows is a distinctive type and the arrows indicate a change in weight. The mint did it throughout the seated series in 1853-55 and again 1873-74. If you collect by type you need both with and without arrows. It may not be the rarer 1853 without arrows, but still a great find. I like the quarters and halves that also have the Rays reverse.

Thanks all - I couldn't have been more psyched. What a way to start the day. I needed this one; been in a bit of a dry spell lately. May have to hit it again tomorrow and make the wife get the kids ready for school!!!

Beautiful half dime Dirtwisher! You can't appreciate how small and thin they are until you hold one in your hand. I found an 1871 and was scratching my head for a while in amazement. Yours has a lot better detail than mine.
