you just need muscle? not money?

I left a message for you. I will try calling again tomorrow. I have been insanely busy with work. I think it has been two or three years since we last searched for this together...

qbvision, I read your other post where you stated: "A friend of mines great grandfather stumbled across it in the late 60's but left it there cause it was illegal to own gold or gold bullion at the time." I remember reading stories like that back in the early 1970's where a person claims to have found gold but left it where it was because it was illegal to own gold back then. Legal or not, I have a hard time believing that anyone would walk away from a treasure trove. More likely they would have taken it home and never said a word about it to anyone. If it's still there however, I hope you find it.

qbvision, I couldn't help but notice the title of your thread was "found braddocks lost payroll" And then upon clicking and opening it, now it's "89.9% certain" .

Not sure why, but this is a recurring theme for the lost legend-type treasures. Persons will say they "found" such & such. And when you question it further, it turns out that they haven't actually "found" anything yet. But are certain they're "right on the verge". Yet in their mind's eyes, they've "found" it already. Just a question of getting 60 ft. deep, or getting the right govt. permits, or investors or .... whatever.

But yes, you were upfront (upon clicking) to see that you are still looking :)

Did you find it?

Any update? I've been researching braddock alot...I'd love to be able to do a full archeological adventure on his journey after dunbars camp...I feel there's lots to discover out there about his journey...near route 40 in uniontown is where I'd be searching for this...this treasure is a different treasure than the one at dents run...if anybody needs a detecting partner I'm always down!

I was told by the curator of Fort Pitt his payroll went back to the UK as for some of the other belongings who knows ?

That could be ...they had more than enough men on the journey back to take a cache like that and don't see why they would leave something like that...hell they tried hiding his body so natives wouldn't desecrate it...I want to know where Dunbar destroyed all the equipment they had...I know it's below the jumonville rocks but want to know exactly and get permission to detect there.

I found this directly below the rocks ...I'm sure people will hate on me but I really just wanna preserve this kind of stuff before it becomes completely forgotten about ...I'm sure in 50 years that it will be taken over by homes for tourism of the mountains...it's quite sad.

It would be useful to spend some time studying how armies in that day were paid. There are, of course, many yarns about lost Civil War army payrolls - they collapse when one looks into it. And there is one thing we know about the military of almost every nation - they kept meticulous records.

This is one of Jameson's favorite stories.

Good luck to all,

The Old Bookaroo
