found at a 1700's house DEEP what is it

I found this at a 1700's house way in the back it was buried deep ( 8 inches) inbetween huge tree roots... First, I have no clue on the proper way to clean it..so I dont want to ruin it.... it looks like a belt thingy but I could be wrong so if anyone can tell me how to clean this without ruining it..and what the heck it is...it would be greatly appreciated... It kinda looks like yellowish or copper colored, that could be the rust too...so any input is greatly appreciated...

Well done.

We call them Horse Furniture or commonly Horse Bosses.

Search that area carefully in wet conditions & see what else is there.

Congrats Rae. See I told you the nice finds would start coming. Remember what I was saying about research? Well, it's now paying off. Keep hitting that site and do lots of digging. on the dfx, I got it used off another site, it has 18-19 months left on its warranty...so am assuming its only a month old... and its comming with the 6 in. coil too... and the so called dfx bible...and shoot, those good headphones...red something....or another...

the wooded area where I was hunting... let me explain.. all over nj there is memorials everywhere, where folks have died in wrecks.. cars are always flying and I mean flying airborne into the woods... several have exploded literally, I try to avoid areas where I know thats happened..as theres car parts everywhere and it is gross to me...anyways, I went deeper into the woods, thru thorn bushes... I was like determined to find something..other then car parts...( and I do not recall any accidents there at this site) anyways, I am so dam excited I feel like Indianna booty... aint no stopping me now... I am feeling high as a kite... I just cant tell ya what a rush this is... I kept holding it in my hand saying...omg this was in the civil war... what tales this could tell...I am just so thrilled its not funny...

dig it all... go for it.... its the excitment that kills ya.... then the find... and then the what the heck is it....lol;;;plus, I am learning new parts of history... aint this the greatest hobby on earth.... hell yeaaaaaaaaaaa

Soak that baby in olive oil for about 3 days then take a toothbrush and lightly bush Repeat until you know if its going to have something on it.

about 1860ish (civil war era time frame horse brindle rosette) nice relic find now look where you found it --- well --- I predict other goodies nearby --- (see those how to know what your detectors saying classes are paying off!!!)---- Ivan
