Went to an estate sale last weekend. Found a few pieces of vintage bar displays/advertising and among other things was this old paperweight-

As you see it depicts a Klansman, a US Flag and a schoolhouse with the quote "One Country, One School, One Flag K.K.K." It dates to the early 1900's.

An estate sale or your sock drawer? HAHAHA Just kidding.

"One school"? They would be singing a different tune in the 60s.

Yeah, I don't know what to do with it. It's not like I can sell it on eBay.

There are a lot of that kinda stuff on ebay. I guy I used to buy storage units with found something like that. I said it's yours, he sold it for over 200 dollars.

So, does the paperweight work? ... If so, it would be a keeper in my office...(darn wind)!

Nice find. I would have bought that too. A piece of our history and I assume it is very unique.

Now if you like it, because you really like it....that is sad.

Yeah, but you aren't supposed to sell KKK items on there, except media type items. Offensive material policy

It isn't a one of kind piece, there are others out there. I bought it only because it is something you don't see/find everyday. I don't neccessarily "like" it but it is what it is. http://www.justanswer.com/antiques/67xey-glass-think-paperweight-5-diamete.html

Hey digg....thx for sharing the additional info. I'm always amazed by the info you can find.

My "really like it" comment was not meant to be directed towards you but rather one of the other responses.

Here is an old Johnny Walker Red display from the same sale, it's all wood except the walking stick and monocle, which is metal-

Think about this.... you should toss it/throw it away.... really...

Its racist…but its history. I would have bought it quickly and with a smile. The same way I look at anything from history. And I would sell too…with a smile! And to a klansmen of the price is right! LOL

Why, because of what it represents I guess?

Do they even exist anymore? Kind of last century aren't they?

Oh, they exist.............................every generation has it's idiots who want to blame anyone but themselves for their own and the world's troubles. That is easier than a little hard work and going back to school, if needed, to improve their own lot in life. Sad, but true.

T.

Yes they exist digg! My buddy got a silver childs necklace pendant or bracelet charm with some sort of KKK & other words on it that I forget at the moment. It is very small & the writing on it is very hard to read its so small but its the real deal, something a hard core real Klansmen's kid would have had way back in the day. He got it in a pallet at my favorite auction.

I'm sure you know this but its pretty unusual in construction even if you removed the kkk parts. the details on the flag and schoolhouse are really good.

I think its a great find! It is a piece of history, and I wouldnt think Keeping it or selling it would be racist at all, its not like you are out producing them.

Sometimes people are scared to know how our country really was. Just like Nazi memorabilia, if I saw any of that for sale, I would jump on it in a heart beat
