I detected the property of an 1869 one-room schoolhouse for 3hrs today. I’m not surprised that there wasn’t much left to find as I’m sure this property has seen a lot of changes over the years, but I did walk away with a couple of keepers. My first decent find was a crusty large cent; I can just make out the date of 1916 under all the crud. My next find almost caused my heart to skip a beat as I turned over a plug to reveal the edge of what looked to be a very large silver coin! :o I decided that I didn’t want to rub it to see what it was so I headed back to my truck and carefully poured some water on it. This is when I saw the date was 1981, missed it being silver by only 15 years! :laughing7: My next interesting finds were the old brass horse buckle and the large iron ring. I sure have found a lot of buckles this year! :icon_scratch:

Thanks for looking and best of luck to you all,
Dave

I can imagine you had to remind yourself to breathe when you first saw that! When I saw the dirt pic, I thought Morgan, even though you had already said it wasn't. Great finds and looking forward to your next finds when you return.

Bet there's more there: big area to thoroughly cover! My first silver half came this year after 20 years of detecting.I ended up with these 5 for this year: Still haven't found a silver dollar yet.
Thanks for your post Sovereignelite and congrats on your 5 silver half finds from this year! :occasion14:

I received a post on another site from a guy who lives in the area of this school and he said, "that he's pounded this site for years and has made some good finds. He also said, he couldn't believe that he'd missed the LC & the large dollar coin"! Too bad so sad! :tongue3:

Best of luck to you next year,
Dave

I most certainly had to remind myself to breath, as it initially took my breath away! I also had my doubts about it being silver as it registered in the 75-76 range on my AT Pro. I found my first and only Walker Half a few years ago, now that one took my breath away as I'd only been detecting for a couple of months then! :laughing7:

Thanks for posting and best of luck to you!
Dave
