Got back out to my farm I started last weekend. After 5 hours of can-slaw, cans, misc farm bits and pieces, I finally found something of interest. I dug up a not-so-flat Flat Button. Years in the ploughed field bent it up. This is the third old button I have dug out of this farm. Last week it was a pewter Flat Button and an early militia eagle button.

I love that militia button. I found one a while back, but my digging tool struck the eagle side, and crushed it. I was sick.

That militia at the bottom is a real peach.

That shield just popped right off, didn't it?

It is still great, everything is crisp, and the die work looks good to me. It is a little sculpture.
Thanks. I am thrilled to have found it.

The eagle's chest didn't have a shield. The plating flaked off there. Here is what it should look like.

That sucks. I just started using a probe. Helps to eliminate those issues. I gouged an 1803 LC last fall. Ouch!
