Found a Key Date '21D Merc Today..

Hello Everyone,

I met up with Jon(GoldenApples) and Curt (Bibleman) at a park today that I have never been to before. It was a very good day for me. I got two firsts in mercury dimes.....can't believe I haven't found a '16 this year until today. I checked the back, no D. Oh well, it's still a wilver!! My other merc did have a D mintmark. It's a 1921. My first ever. I finished the day with a '44 merc, along with 13 wheaties. We were asked today to not dig holes at the park by a patrol guy in a little 4 wheeler. He said we could continue to use our metal detectors at the park, but we couldn't dig holes....Hahahahaa....now what good is that?? Jon, hope you're able to make plugs in the park again. I think there's still old wilver there. Maybe talk to the park ranger that Curt told us about.

Kirk. thats the amount of dirt you gotta dig when you swing a minelab! At least I do cause mine pinpoints for cr@p! (or maybe I should say I pinpoint for cr@p).

Not as safe for the coin, but maybe better for your relationship with the parks crew.

Sweet! To bad you got shut off . I was told something similar, I cold even dig holes, but I could not REMOVE anything . On to bigger and better things, at least you got a good haul while you were there. Great job!


That has to be one of the most ridiculous things I've ever heard. I got a "warning" a few weeks ago from a ranger who told me that I could use use a metal detector only for the purpose of finding an article that I had lost, (i.e. carkeys, wedding band) but could not look for other people's lost articles. So, no relic hunting..which is a real shame because I had found a really productive spot, Finally..no fair!

Hey Fox the strange thing was that the guy that shut us down has never seen anyone detecting there before which is why he went and told his director that something strange was afootThats when we were informed we could hunt but only retreive stuff from the top of the ground but NO DIGGING!!!
Somehow i cant belive that they have never seen someone detecting as this is a 500ac park thats over 100 years old.
Anyhow im working on getting that over ruled.

When i took the pic of Dan and he had lightning bolts hitting him from all sides i knew why he has found so much Silver he's made a pack with the greek God Zeus to power his detector beyond any 9v battery It really made the hairs on my arms stand up

Dan it was great being there with you finding the Key date.

That pic of the lightning bolts reminds me of the movie " The Natural " A great flic with Robert Redford who fashions a powerful bat from a oak tree that was stuck by lightning . He calls the bat Wonderboy with a lightning bolt burned into it . Yes Dan you are "The Natural" . A real heavy hitter at that ! As for your SE well you can call it " The Vacuum " ...
