Got out for a little bit today.
Went back to the spot were I found the capped half dollar, and my US belt plate.
Well picking were slim with so much trash but 1 good one ill take any day.
This is my second 96, first being liberty cap, and this drapped.
Didn't know they made both that year.
Don in NJ has been working on the attributing it. Could be very rare, or a common. Not sure???
Either way, its a good one in my book. Lol
Thanks for looking
George

Another great find, I have five of the Liberty Caps for that year but no Draped Busts for some reason. After hours of looking at the photos and going back and forth on what the attribution might be, I had high hopes it was a S-111 Rarity 5 or even one that is a Rarity 7. but after relooking at the photos and comparing closely with fresh eyes this morning, it is not one of them, it is the Rarity 2 variety S-110. I was not happy to see that after getting your hopes up on it being the rare variety for that year. It would be nice for a second opinion, but I am fairly convinced based on the horizontal line between the 9-6 which to the attributers means "joined" that it is the S-110 and not S-111.

Great Id Don. You're a great contributor to this site. Still a killer find that few will ever have in the collection. Hope this weather holds up for us. I'm really hoping to get out Christmas week. I feel like there's one last great find out there

I see it it now Don.
Thank you for putting in the time on this. It is a true gift you have with these. I know most so called experts cant look at a dug coin and do this.
Im great full that the coin wasn't so gone that it couldn't be identified, nothing worse than that..haha.
Thank you again, and now I have 1 96 capped and 1 96 drapped.
But I still have a long way to go to catch up to you..
George

Nice find George, your back must be killing you with that horseshoe stuck up there. It's impacted against your spine, putting pressure on your sciatic nerve. Ha lol Most detectors wouldn't even hear that beauty hiding in the iron, you heard it, with the help of your Deus program. Nice work George, I should of moved up there two years ago, ha.

That is one sweet piece my man. Such nice details. Congrats.

Did you send Beez a pic?

Well George, you've done it again! Your 2015 is still going strong. Great looking 18th century US Large Cent

Thanks Steve,
Maybe a couple more hunts.
Looks like this weekend is going to be in the 60s. Wow!

Great find again George. She's cleaned up well. I'm glad you found this '96 Draped to keep your '96 capped company. That's quite impressive. Cheers buddy on the 4th quarter win...like them Eagles...

Thanks Steve,
How about them Eagles!! Lol

No stay down your way. Philly is not ready for you..lol

Don, That's impressive :notworthy: When I try to look at a bunch of varieties for a LC they all just look the same to me. ha Awesome job with that ID.

Vino, Incredible find again man. That's one sweet dug DBLC and its still pretty rare. I was really hoping it would be one of the super rare varieties and fund your trip to England! haha However at the rate you're going, you'll be finding one of those rare ones sooner or later. Most likely sooner!

So on my SLOW computer I had to read through three pages of posts only to find out it's just a PLAIN JANE in beautiful condition? Sheesh, I don't if George is let down but I sure am. At least he doesn't find counterfeits and fakes like that other guy he hunts with.

What can I say, George-you are just kicking arse!

the dork boys on Oak Island talk about treasure----Vino digs it

Great photo montage Don. I am always so impressed with the way you present graphics. I'm no expert in attributing large cents, but I do enjoy the challenge. To me your photos clearly show that George's coin is not an S-111-- but I say that for a different reason. In the S-111, the location of the "Y" in Liberty appear to be much too further from the top of Lady Liberty's forehead. That feature also supports your conclusion that the coin is a S-110.

Awesome LC, If I only dug a cent, I'd sure hope it was one like that and in as good of shape. U DA Man George!!!

Indeed you did "find a good one". Remarkable detail for a dug Liberty Cap ! :headbang:

Thanks Brad,
Don is the best at this. Most coin guys can't see through the toast to get a I D.
And hey, you win so and lose some..lol
Looks like ill have to just work to go to England..Haha

Nice shape considering the way coppers come out...Still looking for my first 1700's copper....Congrats
