Hi all , thought I'd share this. Bored stiff and out of work with driving rain here in the northeast today I went downstairs to reorganize my displays. All of my displays are site specific as I like to keep my displays in context with the colonial sites where they found. Anyway, looking at my display( from what may be my best ever colonial cellar site) I noticed one of the large flat buttons had something on it I had not noticed before. Guess it was the way the light was hitting it.
Took it out and would'nt ya know it was a GW chicken hawk button! Made my day. I took the best photo I could of it, but no doubt what it is. I've included a picture of it next to my much nicer one and showed all the items from the site in the display. As you can see it was an incredible site. Hope you all enjoy.

Nice find - in the basement no less. All I got today was a bug up my nose.

Nice rediscovery! You were probably so preoccupied with all the other finds that you overlooked that button at the time. By the way I do the same with my colonial and early American sites. Keep everything in site specific frames and cases.

It's amazing the details you see when you change the light conditions.
The only thing I've found in my basement lately is mice! :dog:

Nice, a GW is one of those bucket listers I'll never acquire probably due to location.:sad11:

Last year during a snowstorm I got bored and started toothpicking some buttons that hadn't been cleaned. One of the 'flat' buttons was found by my wife; her first.
I was pleasantly surprised when it turned out to be a flattened civil war cavalry coat button!
Congrats on your button! I'm pretty sure none of those will ever be found in Missouri.
