Hello,

So, a little back story about finding this fossil. I had an old rock I found at my old house, and it had some petrified wood in it. Today, I was a little bored, so I decided to work on getting the Petrified Wood out. I was very careful, and I got it out. Then, the rock accidentally split. When I looked inside, I found a very large shell fossil. I was able to get it out. Here is a picture.

I've had that rock for two years, and I had no idea that this was inside it. It's a cool find!

Cool find, congrats! :occasion14:

Very cool find and good job easing those things out of the rock

Thanks, guys. Yes, it was very hard to ease it out of the rock, but I was able to do it.

I did some research, and it looks like a gastropod. This basically means that it's a snail shell. I have no idea how old the fossil is, though.

Hi, that is a nice find. Congrats:icon_thumleft:

Just so you guys know, I submitted a picture to a paleontologist in Utah that does fossil identification so I can know 100% what it is and how old it is.

I'll tell you all when I get the reply.

Some people on a fossil forum got back to me. They confirmed that it is a gastropod fossil. The oldest gastropod fossils are 500 million years old.

This is now my second best find. My best find is on another post.
