I read about this yard sale in the local ad bulletin, listed as a multi family with the typical yard sale stuff. Saw where it said old money, caught my eye. listed a phone number at the end of the ad, so i called. Ended up knowing one of the families and she put me in touch with the lady with the coins. Called her the night before she vaguely explained what she had. Sale started at 8, i showed up at ten till and made conversation for a little while. Saw the coins, eyes lit up. I piled everything together that i wanted without looking too greedy, and they began adding everything up on a calculator. Each coin had prices on them from where they had used an old redbook. Total amount came out to around $340, she said since i was buying so many that $200 seemed fair. I agreed. Here are the totals of what i found.

Fifty Cent Pieces: 13 1964 Kennedys.,5 Franklins, and 12 40% Kennedys.

Quarters: 3 silver washingtons, 27 Standing Libertys (inculding a 1919D in VF!!), 5 Barbers (including a 1901 in XF)

Dimes: 42 silver Rosies, 40 Mercurys, 2 Barbers, and a 1889 Liberty Seated!

Folder of Buffaolo nickels: 29 total all full dates with a 1914 in very nice condition.

Folder of Liberty V nickels: 17 total coins in decent condition.

Talk about luck, that doesn't happen very often, if ever. Congratulations.

Nice score! The title of the thread almost made me skip over it. Surprised she didn't have any Walkers with the other halves.

Thanks guys. yeah i was hoping for some nice old Walkers, but no luck. There were a lot of war nickels that i left for someone else. Gotta spread the luck around. And i realize the thread title kind of played it down, but i was extremely happy with the find.

wow that's awesome, especially nice score on the standing liberty quarters! it pays to show up early

It most definitely pays to get there early. I dont like to be one of those who are there 30 minutes early for every sale though. I really liked the SLQ's. In fact, i almost doubled my money with just the 1919 D quarter. I think i'll get it graded and hold on to it for a while though.

I'm thinking that's between $600 and $700 melt alone. (don't think I would sell them just yet though) I would separate the good one's and hang on to the rest for a while. Great find...

Nice find! Too bad that 1901 Barber is not a 1901S. I would sell enough of the common date rosies and kennedy halves to get my money back than hoard the rest. Good luck!.............Scott.
