Ouch! How did you clean those buttons? Acid?

Those finds look to be 1850's to me based on similar stuff from an 1850's post I hunted in West Texas. Does the blank shield General Service button have a Horstmann & Allien backmark? See Tices GEN223B1 & GEN223Bs1. I found these at the site I hunted in Texas and Tice says they date to the 1840's and 1850's.

I stated that above

Well then I just reinforced your statement, didn't I? :laughing7:

Why would there be a Civil War Camp in Arizona? ??? here's a bit of info to read.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Picacho_Pass
The Civil War reached farther than just the Eastern side of the Country, even California has a Civil War Fort. Hope this helps answer the question. cwhunter_1

Trust me I fully understand the involvement of various states during that PERIOD(California gold funded the Union side, and California copper was vital!!)But the key word is PERIOD,was there any major battles,in these States?I stand corrected on Pacheco peak. Some of these buttons(maybe all pre date that though

Nice finds,

Sounds like a nice camp to hunt.
