Those buttons are still in pretty decent shape! :o
Do you think that maybe their uniforms were burned? :icon_scratch:

Those Great Coat buttons are unreal!!!To find one is something!!Something happened there.Either the coats were burned or the guys were in them!!Wasnt an Indian camp was it!

AWESOME FIND!!!! the site looks like a lot of hunting melted were they all in one spot like they burned uniforms in a fire? good luck on the site hh enjoy the hobby scott

You are in Arizona, right?
Wow! great buttons.
Id say those are Indian Wars related.
Do you know of any history in that area.
Beautiful, awesome, Great Finds!

You might want to check your button backmarks,I know the Great Coat buttons pre date the Civil war.

Ouch! How did you clean those buttons? Acid?

Those finds look to be 1850's to me based on similar stuff from an 1850's post I hunted in West Texas. Does the blank shield General Service button have a Horstmann & Allien backmark? See Tices GEN223B1 & GEN223Bs1. I found these at the site I hunted in Texas and Tice says they date to the 1840's and 1850's.

This is so cool. I want to know more about them. Congratulations on your discovery!

Great button finds :icon_thumleft: Looks like all have been exposed to heat . Seems to me , odd and mysterious , the different types found , burnt # , and location . :dontknow: Maybe , Indian ambush loot from a doomed wagon train , used to start a campfire :icon_scratch: never will be solved .... very interesting and Congrats  CMD

They looked to be tumbled please tell me they are not :dontknow:
