I went out to my spot yesterday cause I couldn't bunker down any longer and I had to get out before I went crazy lol, I didn't do any digging but I found what I could that recent rain uncovered, I found this fella right on the surface glimmering colors in the sunlight, everything else is still in my backpack, I'll post them later on this week or so after cleaning but I thought I'd share pictures of this cool specimen I found which should have nice fire with all those Schiller effects showing on the bottom of the agate, I used clear hand sanitizer gel to show the fire better.

Haha like a hundred popped up when I googled assay instead of essay smh, thanks again Blak bart. I seen a couple small assayers wanting only 30 to 50 bucks to check for Au only, I guess they are more for the small miners and small samples.

I've always used Copper State Lab in Prescott for assays.

An XRF won't do a thing to detect gold particles embedded in ore. It's only a thin surface reading from one small spot. You will need a fire assay for metallic ores. Generally cheaper for fire assay and a lot more accurate.

Looks like Copper State is closed. I hope they aren't going to be another victim of the business shutdowns. :censored:

You could try Skyline lab in Tucson. I've never used them. They are more geared to larger mining companies but they might be worth a shot.

Pay close attention to the assayers requirements for a sample. If you just cherry pick some nice pieces you are wasting your time and money.

Thanks Clay, I'll have to check them out, just as soon as I can walk and sit without being in excruciating pain, I was feeding my bearded dragon some Dubai roaches out back and I squatted down real fast not seeing the small bucket behind me and the lip of the bucket impaled my tail bone perfectly, freaking one of the worst pains in my life, sent a searing pain up my spine, the kind of pain that makes you dizzy and nauseous at the same time lol...
