not a major one though. I was detecting in this yard when I got a zinc penny signal. I cut a plug and saw a penny in the bottom. I scanned the hole and still got a signal. So I pulled out the pin pointer and got signals all over the hole. I kept pulling the pennys out and finally got the last of the signals in the hole so I scanned the plug and got more signals. I cleaned the plug out and ran the detector over the hole and got more signals beside of it. I dug another plug and pretty much repeated the story.

I just wear a knee pad only on my right knee since I don't normally put both knees on the ground. By now my knee was getting tired of the kneeling so I filled the second hole back in and stood up. I scanned the area again and got more signals. The total area with signals is about 2 feet square. My knee was bothering me so I figured I would get the rest another time.

When I got home I had taken 61 memorials out of 2 plugs with more waiting for the next trip. Mental note "Take the other knee pad"

Sounds like another kid threw out a pocket full of pennys. So were any of them zinc? You only mentioned memorials. Too bad it wasn't a kid from before 1965 with a pocketful of silver? :)

My favorite "cache" contained three indian heads 1861,1863 and 1864 copper-nickel; 1873 nickel three-cent piece; 1869 shield nickel but no silver or gold. The same place has produced many key indian heads in xf condition(minus environmental damage), an 1823 capped-bust dime, 2 large cents lying on top each other, many barber coins, standing liberty quarters, numerous mercury head dimes.......wait a minute, what am I sitting here for? I'm heading out there with the CZ-5.
