Found this 1944 merc last week and posted it. Many of you say it may be a double stamp. I re-took some pics the best I could. It looks like it may be. But what's your thoughts. Thanks, Ron

It appears to be on the 9 & 4, but I don't see it anywhere else on the dime!

That is nuts. I have never heard of a 44 error. It absolutely looks like a double from the pics. It would probably be worth a ton if it is. Take it to an expert and see what they say.

I see that! Wow! 8) Ya'll know I don't know, :D ....but it's definitely different!

Sure looks like a double whammy! Nice and HH, Mike

I definitely see something funky with the 9 and first 4...

I would have it checked out for sure !!!

Nice find...

Well Ron , I see what appears to be doubling in pic. #1 , but i do not see it in pics

2 and 3 . Hope I didn't send you on a wild goose chase . Argentium.

Hey Ron, I'd take it to a coin dealer see what they say, sure looks like it to me.

Sure looks like a double stamp date to me, especially the first pic. PCGS didn't have any varieties listed on their site, but that don't mean it doesn't exist. Nice find cjh!

There are different kinds of double die. Most common i believe are called mechanical double die "Mechanical Doubling Damage". Its fairly common and doesnt fetch much of a premium. What you're looking for is hub doubling. Get it checked if you want but its most likely the MDD :(

Looks like there is something at the 94 but I don't see anything else....Matt

I saw it last week and I see it again. Doubling on the 9,4 and other 4 is apparent to me. After your post I went and checked the red book and they didn't list this variety. I also did a google search and I couldn't find any reference to it. I have no idea as to the cause of the doubling, but I'd follow-up on it if I were you. Nice find!

Yes,

It does appear to be struck funny. I bet there is a example of one in a good coin book guide. I think the 42 has a similar error out there.
