Hey everyone,
Haven't been out much lately, mainly due to the fact that I'm having a hard time finding new places to hunt.
I returned to the late 18th century house yesterday where I found my 1812 buttons and many 1700s, 1800s, and early 1900s coins and artifacts.
I was in the backyard going over an area I haven't really covered much before. I dug a bouncy signal and pulled out 7 early wheaties (1911, 1917, 1917, 191? 1920, 1921, 192?), and a mixture of 7 play coins / cracker jack tokens.
Play coins are tough to see, most seem to be made by "AZUMA", in varying denominations (5, 10, 25 cent), with different "National Hero" characters on them (i.e. Admiral Dewey, John Paul Jones, and Buffalo Bill). One of the coins is a cracker jack president token with Chester Arthur pictured that reads "Our Chest, First Gentleman of the Land". I believe they are 1930s.
There were some iron fragments mixed in with the coins, along with a glass button!
Also got a glass piece from a mason jar lid (?) that reads "Hero Glass Works, Philadelphia PA" - based on my research this is from mid to late 1800s.
Not a real old group of finds - but interesting nonetheless!!
