I was out on a beach today on a club outing and found these 4 snakes along with 7 triangular tiles. Think they might be tin or pewter ... a little light for lead and the salt water hasn't corroded them at all. They all seem to be hand pressed or poured from a mold since the triangles are different thicknesses and the relief of the cat differs. As well, a couple have holes but I don't think its from corrosion. All found in the same 1 foot square area and I figure they might be game pieces of some sort. Does anyone recognize them?

Thanks.

I would venture to bet that the pieces are voodoo related. The triangle, black cat, and snake are all prominent parts of that religion. Maybe check with a local person knowledgeable in voodoo. Sub 8-)

if it is, & I have no knowledge, it might be wise to dispose of....

That is some pretty wild stuff!

I'm with Fletch88 on this one-windchimes.

Thanks for all the input, everyone! This is turning out to be quite the mystery....maybe lucky....maybe not.... maybe scary.... I didn't think wind chimes were scary but they can make some pretty eerie sounds....and do we really believe in Aliens?!? LOL! Keep the guesses coming. I'm convinced someone out there knows (and when I say out there, I'm including our "friends" from way, way out there).

I wish we had a banner for mysterious finds, I would vote banner! Most interesting dug items I have seen in quite a while.

possible voodoo or "luck related" spirit type charms -- both the Egyptians and voodoo folks use --symbols like cats , snakes and triangle shapes -- as "magic charm" types of symbols -- the person places them by the ocean for "blessings" or to curse someone maybe -- you just stumbled upon it whatever it was for better or worse....

Thanks, ivan. You've made me feel better....or worse......; can't tell yet. I'll have to get out there and swing the coil tomorrow to see if I have good luck or ba...I mean, not so good luck!

Strange but cool find! :icon_scratch:

One of the more interesting finds on t-net! :occasion18::blob9: :occasion18: The curving snakes remind me of the sidewinder rattlers I occasionally met in back country Arizona. Andi

When I was a kid, I found some clearly ritualistic stuff, but I think it was thrown out on the side of the road and burned. There were rune stones, cat and dragon effigies and small urns and one large one. There were also Knights of Columbus medallions and other medallions that I wasn't sure of. There were also incense burners.

I tend to think that the items you found, probably were not ritualistic in nature (although anything can be used as such) or wind chimes because it doesn't look like there are attachment points. I think that they were used as a contemporary design to something. Regardless, I would not bring them into my home if I were you. I have had friends have weird things happen when they brought objects in their home. I think that the chances are remote that you can expose your homes to something, but I think that we all need to be vigilant.

Well, I'm glad to report that I think the snakes have brought me good luck. Swung the coil at a lake today and pulled out 6 pennies, some lead fish weights and a royal coachman fly with a bunch of swivels. Not a lot, for sure, but hey, I didn't fall in or drop the detector into the water. That's got to count for something!! But seriously, I found the snakes on Sunday (Father's Day), my wife got a phone call yesterday informing her that she had won first prize in the Little League raffle; a trip to Vegas (our son plays and so we bought some tickets to help out the club) and today we both received checks in the mail from the government after our tax returns were reassessed. Not too bad, after all. So I guess its OK to keep the snakes in the house. Phew!!!

Scroll down on this site & see the same type of triangular things you have! ( beach in Boston Mass)

Also found on a beach!

Below them is a circular object with snakes on??

I still have no idea what they are. The writing looks 'kind of' Coptic/Arabic but no real clue. Because they have all been shore finds, it does point towards a ritual disposit. There are still some cultures in London that sacrifice objects into the river Thames, so I see no reason why it can't be the 'sea' instead.

If I were an 'Expert' I would not be guessing right now, I prefer 'Specialist' in British dug objects/coins.

I think if you dug into the satanic/witchcraft angle research it you might find the answer. It may have been lost to the sea on purpose. Personally I wouldn't keep those items in my house.

Very cool I saw something just like these on a Facebook group. The finder also found them on the beach. I think there some kind if religous offering.
