Hello fellow TNetters,

It's been a while so I thought I'd better post something or you might think I'm slackin' :D

I got permission to hunt an old yard about 5 miles away..it's a huge yard with overgrown grass, weeds and wild violets..with every sweep came swarms of mosquitos, so luckily I brought the repellant with me! I swear I never saw so many of them..they were around in late February if you can believe that, and the monsoon rains we've had since then allowed them to breed in record numbers around here.

Anyway, in between trips back to the truck to spray myself, I found a neat variety of finds..here's a group shot of my finds from the yard, including 2 brass hose nozzels (I found about 14 of these things so far!), a small toy boat, an antique TootsieToy car, a large BMW, 4 1/64th scale Hot Wheels cars, clad, 2 wheaties, the back of what looks like an old pocketwatch, some keys and 2 religious pendants.

One of the pendants is sterling silver and is absolutely beautiful..it's also really unique..it opens 2 different ways to reveal inscriptions on each side. Here's what it looked like when I found it (closed):

Here's one side with both "compartments" twisted open:

I also found this Nichols 250 cap gun..it was 5-6 inches deep and it took me a while to dig up. I knew what it was when I saw the cylinder..glad I got it out in one piece!

After the yard gets cut I'm going back..there's more ground to cover!

I also spent part of this morning at a couple of schoolyards..been to both before but I got what little was left..

Since yesterday I found about $10 for the guitar fund, so now I'm at $290.00 in clad this year so far..with luck I'll have it before Christmas!

Have a great weekend!

Fantastc finds and post Natman :icon_king:.

Thanks for sharing. :icon_sunny:

I have the green van. Mine is an Incredible Hulk van and you can see Hulk inside when you look through the rear windows. The date on the bottom should be 79-80 maybe. Heres a yellow one.

Nat,
That has to be one of the neatest pendants I've seen here on TN. What a great find. Congrats to you.
The clad count is building. I can almost hear that guitar already. Oh sorry, that was the wind chime outside. ::)
Way to go,
MM

Thanks you guys, it was a fun day for me..hopefully I'll find a silver coin or two when I go back.

GL, your van is a spinoff of mine..the original (from 1977) is called the Spoiler Sport and was a Flying Colors model made in Hong Kong, and only came in green. Yours was possibly made in Malaysia or another country other than Hong Kong or U.S. The base of every offshoot of the original van should show 1976, the date of the original patent. If there were added modifications it may have a later date. Thanks for showing the pic of yours, the casting looks identical.

I lifted that van picture off the Internet.
I'll have to do some serious digging to find mine. Mine is green and was still in my toybox at my grandmothers house last year when I retrieved it.

I thinks it's safe to say we would all like to have a real van exactly that awesome.
Mine would have a wizard airbrushed on it.
Great finds by the way. You will have that Ibanez in no time!

If yours has redline tires, it would be worth about $50 collector value (in mint condition).

The guitar I'm looking at buying is a jumbo model Epiphone.

Nice finds. Hell, you got skeeters, it has been so cold
and snowey around here we dont even have flys yet.
I have only been m.d.ing once this year cause of the
weather. Best of luck, Jim.

Nat, that is a real nice rose pendant you have found!

Hope you didn't get too many bites.

Good digs Nat. That pendant is probably the neatest one I've ever seen...including ANY I've dug in the last 30 years or so

Nice Finds. I have to smile when I see the hose nozzles. I've found four of them in about a month. Those things sound like silver dollars. I actually cleaned one up and put it on my hose. It works great.

Thaks everyone

Jim, I heard about you guys up north..the weather's been so weird this year. I hope it changes really quick for you so you can get out there.

That rose is just beautiful. Does anybody have any
idea about the age or maker?

I was hoping someone may have seen one of them before, but so far no luck..

Ha! I did the same thing! After finding so many, I was able to select one from the wide assortment of dug nozzels and use one to wash the car with..all I had to do was replace the rubber gasket..sure beats the trigger kind I had before that I had to throw away.
