I sent sent pictures to the guys at the UofF at the email address listed below and got a very detailed and specific response the same day. So I think you will find them helpful.

I found this today while looking for Indian Artifacts. I'm pretty sure it is a fossil. Can any one help with what this could have been. My first fossil. I hope that's what it is.

I recently discovered an email address where you can send fossil pictures to the University of Gainesville to get Florida fossils identified. There is a good chance that your state might have the same type of service. I googled "fossil collecting Florida" and found the clubs, informatinn and idendification email address.

For those of you in Florida, the email address is rhulbert@flmnh.ufl.edu

Yeah it is local. The university actually bring students just down the road from me. They research the ledges. Some people actually remove some of the ledges to keep the fossils, which isn't "quite" right. I just never found one myself that I felt I could keep. Great my husband is going to be thrilled I now have yet another hobby! ;D

I really am excited about it, thanks folks!!!!!!!!!!

Congradulations......I wish i could go thru that ledge, I would be one of those that would keep some....
