Found this the other day, still not sure what they were going for. I don’t want to sway any opinions but I do want to point out what I’m trying to show in the pictures
Pretty normal broke fragment…

When flipped you see the blade margin with cortex still

But then look at what would have been the broken faces

What do you think they were going for coming back at the broken edges? It seems underdone and reworked at the same time

Looks to me like the knapper just gave up. Some evidence that the core side of that piece provided hinge flakes that are pretty difficult to correct. I've worked some flints and cherts and some obsidian and they all have provided me some difficulties, lol! I stand in awe at some of the talent we see one those beautiful points we find sometimes!

Probably broke while being made trying to remove the stacks.
I found a preform Wade a couple of weeks ago. Beautiful red and white material but had a stack on one side they couldn’t get rid of so they gave up trying to thin it and tossed it. If I ever find a whole Wade point I’m going to have a frame with the preforms mixed in with it.

I think they saw a beautiful material as you did, that they wanted to use, tried to use.... but the stacks were just unsurmountable!
