For Sale...Bags of Silver Coins?

I just saw an ad in the latest issue of my American Rifleman. They are offering bags of silver US coins for ex amount of dollars. I wonder if this is where the coins are going that detectorists find and sell? I always assumed they would go into collections or be melted down for the silver but.....? What's up with this? I'd hate to think the labors of my hobby are being sold by the bagfull!

Jim, some coins are sold to further the hobby, i.e. new detector, etc. some buy for investment, some are sold to clubs for competition hunts. Not to worry, there's still enough coins in the ground to go around. HH and waiting just like you for your 1st one. I promise it's out there just waiting for ya.
