When I first started collecting artifacts,I had the hardest time bringing home worked pieces and not just flakes.
With enuff time, and flakes..lol..I got better. So I would like to help another budding collector out by giving them some worked pieces that I have found .Just to help build thier eye.Ya know to show what the hand of man looks like on flint,as it can be hard at times.

A good friend once said to me "knowledge not shared is lost"I think so too..So it's my turn to share....

I will ship it at no cost, but can't do it untill next week.So chime in ya'll & I will send them to who ever wants them the most..Thanx gang...

Always had good stuff from them, but you have spent a lot more time with them than I have...lol.
Let me know what kind of fossil stuff that you are putting together, I have some that I can donate from North Texas...shells in matrix, some claws and maybe a tooth or two...lots of bone pieces...

Willing to part with clams, oysters, bones and teeth, even a nautilus, but I won't give up my urchins...lol ;D

I find sooooo many Urchins that would make good study pieces,I don't mind parting with some.
Like 1 in 10 are my keepers...lol

We are going to have to move this to fossil forum if we keep on...lol. I do like your idea tho, to share with newbies in the field...I know that the first time I went to the ranch, I had no clue what to look for, other than a perfect point, as the day went by I watch other folks and asked a lot of questions, started picking up chips that I saw and looking for the workmanship and finally found points that I wouldn't have seen before that. Didn't do real well that time, but I came home with a handaxe and a tipbroke Covington...beginners luck. The bad part about this hobby is that I can't go anywhere without checking the ground anymore...I always check gravel driveways...lol.

I hear ya!I am looking everywhere, all the time!.....I have never found a point yet,but I have found tools next to a church tho....Never stop looking.....After all how can ya find anything without looking...

Good luck & keep looking down....

Neo, arrived today!

The boys and I were both pleased and surprised with all you sent! We will be taking a closer look tonight after supper along with a couple of reference books I have. We appreciate your generosity!

maybe you could contact a school and do the same and then give out the pieces to the students. I am telling you they really ate it up this year and we did not even have anything to give them.
It might be a good idea to check first. There are idiots in schools having elementary school kids arrested for bringing asprin from home ("drugs") and carrying pocket knives ("weapons"). It wouldn't be difficult for some bolshevic to decide your relics were "weapons" and call the police to arrest you. Common sense increasingly counts for less and less, it seems. If a rule can be stretched to gratify someone's ambition to boss other people around, it will be.

A sad commentary on life today, but a precaution I'd take because of it.

The small (bird?) bone, Jacob looked at it and thought it "saw" marks, he also noted it look as though the center was scraped out. I grabbed my 15x loupe (age sux  ) and could see a few marks but could not tell if they were significant or not.

These should keep us interested and the discussion lively for quite awhile.

My assumption is that they cracked the bones to get to the marrow.(Myahaps using a drill..Makeing the scratches)
AlsoMarks on the outside(if any) may have been cut marks or rat knawing...I am so happy that ya'll are pleased.I was hopeing to spark that ARTIFIRE...

I came into a few dollers today,so Keep lookin your will be sent today.I can afford 1 more Any takers?

Ok...Keeplookin..you got both sets..The next sets will be up for grabs in two weeks....

1 artifact-&1 fossil set..I will post the fossil one in the fossil topic as the date gets closer..

Neo, What an excellent idea! I've gone out of my way to take a few newbies out and help them with identification, but sending out a portion of your plunder tops all I've seen. And to folks unknown. This is how we'll propagate our discipline. Perhaps we could begin a "donor" list and a "receiver" list. Don't know how that would go over with the Treasurenet folks, but putting pieces of real history in the hands of those who are desiring to know and grow can only be good. Strong work, Neo!

Thank you..Thats a very nice thing to say.....I had alot of nice folks help me out when I first started. It feels good to give back...Your right history in your hand is the best.........I also think a pay it forward thread would be neat...

Neo,

I have read a lot of posts, and maybe I missed one, but your the first member to offer this very generous donation of education.
I will to show this to my daughter when she gets back from her first year in College and also a very excited Grandson. Have mapped
and found some great hunting sites all waiting for today's dog walk. Will post pics if anything catches my eye......................................

Got your pieces and really enjoying sharing the past through these.I cannot thank you enough for your generosity and will pass these on to others who are now
doing what I do. The varying types of points and the two tools were very good examples to use in my future hunts. What do you think the bone was????

I am very interested in the offer that you are displaying for us newbies. I sent you a personal message but I am not sure that it went through. I am interested in finding more arrowheads and this would help out so much. Thank you in advance for your generosity. Happy hunting.

Tim
