This may not be common knowledge but Ian Flemming based his James Bond character on a Canadian spy by the name of William Stephenson.

Thanks for the chuckles....it was more loosey goosey during WW11....

He also headed up Camp X in Whitby in Ontario as a Plan B in the event Germany won the war to train counter espionage troops.
