I wasn’t able to get out for a long hunt over the holiday weekend, but was able to do a number of short hunts recently.

I found this WW2 medal at an old farmstead in the woods by my house.

Old buckle, Maco Gold Ray, I believe this was an “Initial” buckle, but no initial engraved.

My first key fob, I think.

Nice digs Thad. Yes you do have a pocket watch fob there. I didn't do very well over the weekend. Five buttons, three IHPs. 1907-O Barber dime, a marble and a gunflint.
Hope to do better this weekend in Virginia.

Nice finds again. Three silvers makes for a great hunt. I think your fob would be a watch fob because of the slot in it. It would have had a leather strap through it. Just my 2 cents worth. You may be able to soak it in lemon juice and then remove it and use a brass brush on several times until it cleans up so you can tell what it was for.

The fob has initials. With care you may be able to read them.
Nice finds.
The Pacific War Medal was well earned by its original owner.
Thanks to him!

Sounds like you had a pretty good weekend. I’ve never dug in VA, sounds like the Mecca of CW relics, but the soil can be frustrating. Good luck & send pics! Thx

Wow, those are some excellent finds! :occasion14:

Thx! My grandfather was a Marine in the Pacific. I tried a little more cleaning on the fob, definitely some script.

Not sure if I want to clean much more, I don’t want it to give it that orangie gold overcleaned brass look.

Great hunt, really nice medal, nice silvers, fob, & cool other relics, congrats on all the saves

Thank you for saving that medal. Take special care of it!

I can't quite make out the initials. Looks like S ? C to me. Great finds, especially the medal. WW2 in the Pacific was hell on earth. Gary

Very nice save on the Medal. A whole lot of History to that one. Congrats!

Yup, careful with the lemon juice, I soaked a WW1 Victory Medal perhaps to long in it, and it did get an "orange" look. I pretty much avoid the lemon juice, for me anyway.

Wow what a day that medal is sweet.amd silver well done
