Flying Eagle!!

Went back to my favorite spot with my Prizm 6T and my brother and his MXT. I found the 1857 Flying Eagle in a area I've hunted before but must of missed it. Love finding old coins but the Fatty IH's/Flying Eagle's always come out of the ground like crap lol. Almost like a nickel due to the fact that there is some nickel content in the coin. Either way I'll take a Flying anyday!!! [cool] Had fun hunting with my brother!!!

IN 2005 I found one of these babies. 1858 . The petine on it was shot but the detail was extroidinary . all the feathers . I saw one on ebay in worse shape for about 800.00 . so I took it to a coinm dealer to see what he would pay for one . He offered me 5.00 for it . I was laughing at him as I left . Still have the coin and I would never sell it . Rob

Nice find buddy! These are the hardest type to find as they were only made for a couple years! Congrats on joining the Flying Eagle club

P.S. That is a cool one that Oakhunter found that's made into a button. Probably killed the value of the coin BUT to me enhanced its historical and Coolness value!

I have a half dime in my collection that was made into a button. Wouldn't trade it for two unholed ones.
