A long, productive hunt - with two firsts.

Hit the park with Ed Burgee today and came away with some firsts for me - a flying eagle cent and a 2-cent piece. Four coins were earlier than 1900 and this is my 7th consecutive hunt with at least one IHP. I may have found the smallest spoon, measuring just 32 mm. The naval button is two-piece with most of the back missing. First target of the day was the 1917S merc. There were 8 wheats dating from 1910 through the 40s. NEL Tornado coil is making a difference.

Thanks KK. First flying eagle for me. Stiil have to put the maglite on it to firm up the date. Pretty sure it's 1858.

Thanks Trezure. Is it you experience that most dug old coins have more corrosion on one side than the other?

Thanks CC. The 2-cent came after I'd been detecting 5h. I checked the immediate area fro any other faint signals and within one foot was the flying eagle.

Thanks CT. A park this old makes for the possibility of a wide range of coins and finds.

Thanks pepperj. The bronze coinage really holds up over time.

Thanks Patriot. It is in the best shape of any pre-1900 coin I've found.

Thanks MD49. Here's to your next bucketlister!! Happy hunting.

Thanks Dr. T. Dug a lot of plugs yesterday. Some yielded pull tabs, can shred, screw-on bottle caps, but others held "the goods".

Thanks Old Dude. I'm an "old dude" as well. Got started late on detecting but really enjoying it.

Thanks diggingthe1. I agree. I go out now expecting have a great day.
