Flintlock Side Plate

Hey guys. Got back out to the same lot this afternoon after a hard rain. I only stayed for about two hours before I started cramping up. Old age and humidity has been taking its toll! Anyway after finding nothing and on the way back to the truck I got a mixed and deep signal. I pulled out a large square nail and checked the hole again. At about 12 inches deep I pulled out what I think is a flintlock pistol brass side plate. Any ideas? Thanks for looking and happy hunting to all!

?? The error is interesting when it is stated to be a copy , of an originally misaligned hole?
And the marked area on the O.P.'s piece looks like it too had a problem with the screw seating flush.
