Flick Your Ashes on Hitler's Hearth.

Now that I got your attention, does anyone know anything about this ashtray? It appears to be a souvenir ashtray with an authentic marble piece taken from Hitlers home at Berchtesgaden after V-E Day, June 1945. I found this in the trash. It is in very good condition. I love searching the dumps.
Does anyone recognize the 3 names signed in testimony of the authenticity of this piece? Any guesstimate of value? I hope you can read it.

B) I'm sorry but the white imprint is to clear and bright, looks like a cut and paste of the text.
Can you explain?

are you insinuating that his find is not real? if so that is in violation of the websites rules isnt it? perhaps you should explain.

LOL...in the immoratal words of Bugs Bunny..."what a maroon!"

Nice trash pick up...should get you a few bucks but I personally would be hard pressed to sell it. It is a trophy of war and victory over tyranny...I'd be flicking my ashes into that as it was meant to be...

Re: Flick Your Ashes on Hitler's Hearth.

Im selling off my collectibles including this ashtray. I have had a few offers in the past and again recently and I would like to know todays value. There are at least 5 sold on Worthpoint but I cannot see the prices. I know this is not the place to sell Im just looking for the value. Does anyone have a subscription that can tell me the selling price of these ashtrays? :help: Thanks.

Re: Flick Your Ashes on Hitler's Hearth.

I was told that someone drilled a hole in my ashtray hurting the value. It appears that some of the others also have the same threaded hole. Some also say 1946.

Does anyone know what this threaded hole could be for? :help:The item is solid heavy aluminum with some kind of copper finish. I dont see how it could hurt the value if it was made that way but what was it for? :icon_scratch:

Yeah, this is definitely a cool ashtray. It's basically a clever design to allow you to desecrate the memory of Hitler.. It's like, "Hey, dance on Hitler's grave." Pretty cool. I wonder if the hole was there to hang it on a wall. Seems odd, but maybe it was displayed that way??

Re: Flick Your Ashes on Hitler's Hearth.

Many items like this are used to adorn pubs in the UK. Because a lot of Brit's get "sticky fingers" after a few beers items are screwed down so they remain where they belong, lol.
This could be a reason for the hole in yours. It may have decorated a bar and been a "conversation piece".

Re: Flick Your Ashes on Hitler's Hearth.

I doubt the hole will hurt the value any, seeing as others also have the same hole. It's not in the printed area, and it's not on the front, so I can't imagine it hurting it any. I wish I could help with the value for you, I'm sure it will fetch a decent price though. I keep pointing people to the Werhmacht Awards forum for things like this, I'm sure if you ask around on there, you'll get some good info, and maybe a few offers.

It would be too off balance to hang it on 1 hole and I think the hole was somehow used in the process of making it because I have found the hole on 2 others so far. Most of the others are missing the marble piece.

I was offered $120 because of the hole. It would be too off balance to hang it on 1 hole and I think the hole was somehow used in the process of making it because I have found the hole on 2 others so far. Most of the others are missing the marble piece. I dont think I can sell nazi items on eBay. I think it could be worth $200 but Im not sure but that will be my asking price. Ill check the other forum. Thanks.

You can sell "Nazi" items on ebay, but there are a few countries (Germany in particular) that you can't sell to. This one should be ok since it hasn't got a swastika on it. Just be sure to say in your listing that you will not sell or ship to any country where such items are banned by law. I've sold quite a few items from ww2 Germany on e-bay and never had a problem, but only because I followed the rules.

Re: Flick Your Ashes on Hitler's Hearth.

Take it to Lost Wages,NV. to that pawn shop. Bet they'd love it. And to think I pass dumpsters everyday. When I was 8 my Grandmother remarried & was moving. One of the things I saw her throwing away was an old piece of paper. I grabbed onto it. Was an org. Land grant from 1846. Too bad I didn't know more, who knows what else the pitched.

1945. There is no doubt to the authenticity IMO. My only concern is the value.

I used to find tons of WWII items in the dump back in the 70's and 80's incuding war maps.. You would not believe.

I still use to this day a down feather sleeping bag I found and a Pacific Theatre mosquito netting. I found them both in excellent condition.

Dumpster finds are unbelievable. The best time unfortunately is after someone dies.

Re: Flick Your Ashes on Hitler's Hearth.

This is an old post but I want to share a story. I used to smoke and I used the item regularily as an ashtray. One day I noticed the marble chip missing. I was in shock. Apparently it came off when I dumped the ashes.

Fortunately the trash wasnt picked up yet. I searched all the way to the bottom of the trash until I found it and epoxied it on for good. Many of the ashtrays on Worthpoint are missing this marble piece because it eventually falls out.

The original 4 corner pads are still on it but I glued 4 new grey pads so as not to scratch the table. I believe it helped protect the writing on the bottom as very little is missing. Its a beautiful piece. The solid aluminum has some weight to it and the copper plating is very heavy and it stands up well to abuse. I will be sad to see it go but Im going to start selling all my collectibles soon. I sell eBay under the same name. I have tons of coins and cool stuff.

So you did sell it right? May I ask how much you got for it?
