Hi,

I found 2 BU franklins, a 1961 and a 1963. absolutely beautiful looking. The 1961 in particular is almost flawless, with what looks like full bell lines. I attached one pic that shows both, but the rest of the pics are all the 1961. I'm wondering what I should expect to get for this coin. My price guide shows that with full bell lines, an MS-65 is worth quite a bundle, and an MS-66 even more. Can I get some opinions on if this coin could grade that high? if you need more photos let me know. thanks and happy hunting!

These were both pulled from the same Dunbar box of halves

I'd take them to a dealer & ask what kind of grade they think they are before sending them in for grading.

Looking at the PCGS priceguide, you need the '61 to come back as MS66 (no FBL) or MS64FBL or better to make it worth the grading fees. I doubt it's FBL (pretty rare in that date) and it doesn't look ms66.

Just my advice. But they are really good looking coins!

Absolutely BEAUTIFUL coin. Ive only ever found 1 Ben in my life and that was my first time searching halves. Got 60$ in hand wrapped from TD and it had a 63 D Ben, 2 64s, and 3 40%ers.

thanks baddbluff for the advice! I agree, if it's not FBL there's no point. I need to try and post some better pics. I think it's at least MS64, but you're right it may very well not be MS66. on top of that, FBL is very rare for the 1961!

Take it to a local coin dealer & ask if it's worth it to send off for grading. Good job.
