Flat button and pewter button ID help

Hey, sorry about the bad pictures ... I found dug these earlier in an area that's been active since colonial times in upstate NY, I'm curious about the general date these are from. The shank on the flat button is bent over / concealing some of the markings , I'm pretty sure it says best quality . The other one I believe is pewter , no noticeable markings and in rough shape. I'd appreciate any info , these are some of my first metal detecting finds of any variety!

I'm sure someone could give you a better range but id say the first one around 1830 and the second around 1780 good luck and nice finds.

The first may be earlier in the 1800's, based on the lettering being raised rather than indented.

Nhbenz is correct (as usual). More specifically... dug-in-the-US brass 1-piece flatbuttons with a raised-lettering backmark date from about 1790 to the late-1830s. I specified "dug-in-the-US" because in Europe (including Britain) they continued to be manufactured somewhat later than the 1830s.
