Five rings, 260 coins and the only half dollar I didn't want...

Wasn't sure how this day was going to be ending. I started off going to a school I had hit about a month ago(107 coins) and figured I might have another good day. What happens, made a wrong turn somewhere and ended up driving by an Elementary school I didn't even know existed. So it looked like a good place to start swinging. From the time I turned the Ace on it was coin fest. Coins everywhere, from right on top of the ground to about three inches. I found two Dollar coins, 53 quarters, 60 dimes, 38 nickels, 107 memorial cents, three tokens, 5 junk rings(one 14k plated), three necklaces, and this half of a dollar bill. I just couldn't find the other half. A total of 260 coins amounting $24.22. Not a bad haul!!

Don't you just love that feeling? That feeling you get after you've totaled up your finds for the day and realize that not only did you have fun indulging in your pastime but that you got PAID FOR IT! <grin> I LOVE that feeling too. Sound to me like you found "Virgin territory" there to metal detect. Good for you! Only bad part of that is that after you've had a bonanza like that one, you never quite reach that plateau at that site again. Oh sure, you're going to find more stuff there, maybe even some big coin count days, just probably not to same degree. Yet... it's days like this one that keep us going back out again and again.

These places get harder and harder to find, best way is to research, or my method, dumb luck. I've had more 200+ coins this year and other than some summer months in Va Beach, I've not been that high count lucky!! I have many more plateau's to reach, just have to get out and work to reach them!! Thanks!

I am due for one of those days again....nickel hill was my last easy pickings spot.... Just shows a fresh spot can really pay off...I noticed we are dropping another 10 degrees a day next week....So hit it while you can...fantastic hunt...

You're definately due, and hopefully it will be less pennies and more quarters!!

Take it to the bank, they should give a new dollar, they did that with $20 dollar bills I found, as long as the serial number was there.

Unfortunately you have to have BOTH serial numbers(both sides) for the bank to take it!

I wanted gold, but don't have a say, it just depends on the Detecting Gods, and they were looking the other way. I know I've got a nice looking 14k plated, but thats not gold. Maybe one more before I stop and start digging oldies!!
