Went back to the fields that produced the strap end last week most of them now have been rolled and seeded,we tried a area that had given up hammered to my detecting partner before and it wasn't long before he was holding another, James1 sixpence1603-25 a nice coin but the face was worn of but a nice clear legend. Just a short while later I two was holding my fist hammered of the day the first for my new detector Elizabeth 1 shilling 1558-1603 unfortunately the coin has been ravaged by the plough, you just make out the date in the top of the shield 1563. later on in the day I had my second hammered of the day and only my second ever cut quarter the coin I think might be a rare quarter of Stephen 1135-1154 (note the cross in the quarter) the only coin I can find in my coin book with similar cross in the quarter is for Stephen, Crusader might have some thoughts on this. The last decent find of the day was a nice brooch in the form of a fairy probably dating from the early part of the 1900s, hope you enjoy the pictures :o

Nice haul there, well done

I know how hard it is to get 2 hammered in 1 day - EXCELLENT WORK!!!!!

The cut qrter looks to be:

HENRY II 1154 - 1189
Cross & Crosslets (telby) coinage
VERY RARE - Never had any of this King

Thanks...yes the detector is working fine still got a lot to learn about it but what I can tell you about it that it is very light, this enables me to detect a lot longer ;D
