Fishing thread on George Osteens Ute Mountain gold cave

Supposedly the "cave" that George found on the side of Ute Peak was actually a mine. The gold ingots were simply stacked along one wall at the front entrance in a 20x20 room. At the back the mine receded into the mountain. So the story says it was mined on Ute Peak, not simply stored there. But who knows, maybe the tunnel at the back was not a mine at all, but simply led to more rooms. He did not explore back any further than the entrance according to the story.

Hello Matt

To me there seem too many red flags with the story as interesting as these stories are. How many of these story all all over the southwest a cave found with gold bars etc cannot return because of Indians etc...?

Maybe the name you was looking for before might be in the Census of Indian nations http://www.archives.gov/research/census/native-americans/1885-1940.htm
