Do you have a personal settings you like ? I find all junk metal soda tops ,cans. nails,pipes, and it gives a really clear beep. I throw a coin on the ground and its very very low sound.

I have a fisher F44, I love it & Usually operate in the "Coin" mode. Check what mode of operation you are using?
