Fisher pro pointer

argh, saw this just a little bittle to late. Have recently ordered a F5 and included some other stash, among other a FPoint. After seeing this, and some other reviews i sent the supplier a mail in hope of cancelling the FPoint. Just have to spend a bit more for a pin pointer :-\

Hey no need to cancel if its free! the fpoint will work, its just not as good as some others

Well if it had been included, no worries :-) But paid $68 (everything is more expensive here) for it so I am going for a better pointer. Got a Mail from the supplier telling me he was going to take it out of the order when he is shipping it tomorrow.

Will probably go for the Gartett Pro Pointer, but thats around $210 here so will do that next month ;-)

I got the Fpoint with my F2 in a kit. It works as it should and definitely helps locate a target. The sensitivity knob location is stupid. It is easily moved while you are prodding around which can be a little frustrating when you realize you were just prodding for 5 minutes with the sensitivity all the way down and probably worked right over the target. Other than that, I wish the end of it was sharper so you could easily push it in the dirt, it would save some digging.

if I were in the market for a cheap pinpointer I would get the harbor freight one. Less grief when you break or lose it that way. That sun-ray in line setup is pretty slick, I like that.

When is part of the deal, go for it. The supplier had a great F2 package, if you bought the F2 at the same time, ufortunately nothing if you bought the F5. And since I am paying for it I might as well go for broke with the Pro Pointer ;-)

The Fisher F-pointer came with my F2 but it never worked satisfactorily--I would never ever buy one for $68 when you can get the Cen-Tech from Harbor Freight much cheaper and it's a better pinpointer. The Garrett Propointer blows them both out of the water.

The sensitivity mod on the Fpoint is very touchy. If you adjust it to get better depth in nice weather, you might find that you run out of adjustment room, when the weather gets hotter. I had to re-adjust my internal trimmer when it wouldn't stop buzzing cause I couldn't adjust the sensitivity to stop it in the hotter outside temps.

Scott, I've been finding this out with my Cent-Tech also. When the weather is mild, it works brilliantly but let it get into the 70s or 80s and you run out of room. I didn't want to open it up for adjustments, but in the next week or so of warmer temps it looks like I'm going to have to it.

I experienced this with my centech yesterday! Just barely had 1/8" of sensitivity adjustment left, and I worried if it got much hotter out, I would run out entirely. I read some guys have drilled a few vent holes in the case in order to keep the internals a little cooler. It seemed to work for them, so I may try it myself. BTW beep, I dig the name!

That's not a bad idea on the holes in the case. I'd rather not have to decrease the internal sensitivity because I like every bit of distance I can get out of it. I've also seen someone drill a hole in the case and put an adjustable knob on the outside where you can adjust for temperature variation which would be cool but then it wouldn't fit in the pouch or might might get bumped in the hole, etc.

Thanks, the name just kinda popped into my head LOL.

Garret Pro Pointer is by far the Best out there. Dont waste your money on a fisher or a whites. garret has a great warranty also and the pinpointer s tough as nails also. i have owned more expensive pinpointers but they lack the quality that garret has. Its well worth the money you pay for it also.

I have to send my Profind in after less than 3 months of use, it's malfunctioning.

Got a Minelab Pro-Find 25 waiting at the post office. Went for that since in some aspects its better then the Garrett, in others/the rest, they are pretty much equal. Can´t wait to use it! :D
