I've been tinking of buying a first detector and I'm hesitating between the Ace 250 and Fisher F4. What do you think ?

I've tried only two detectors so far, the Ace 150 and the Garrett GTA 1000. I've had OK results with both, being a novice. I first figured that a used GTA 1000 would be good, but I don't think people who have them let them go...

I've also heard the Fisher F2 would be a great machine, but I haven't seen a review yet.

THanks for your 2 cents,

T

I have owned both the Ace 250 and the F4. I do not favor either brand one more than the other (actually I favor Tesoro's) but I will say and know that the F4 will blow the Ace out of the water. The F4 is a really nice machine - light weight well balanced/ made pretty well/ very accurate at id'ing coins (more accurate than the Ace). Also has a 5 year warranty. I had the 4" coil for the F4 and it is one coin magnet & the F4/4"coil combo will go deeper than you would imagine. Both the Ace and the F4 takes alittle practice pinpointing with but becomes real easy after you get the hang of it. Using the 4" coil on the F4 makes pinpointing a snap. The F4 isn't as "chattery" as the Ace is either. I would recogmend the F4 to anyone. In my opinion the F4 is worth the extra money over the Ace. Either one would make you a nice detector & give you alot of fun (that is what is important). Steve.
P.S. If you go with the Garrett get the 250 over the 150 it is worth the little bit extra $
One thing I will tell you is that the F4 is NOT a Bounty Hunter Discovery 3300 no matter what anyone tries to tell you.

SkiWhiz is right about the F4 being better than the 250.
