I am slightly new at this hobbly. I am trying to absorb as much information from this site as possible.
I have a whites spectra v3i that i am trying to learn. I have been wanting to do some water hunting, so i purchased a used Fisher Aquanaut 1280-x, it is an older model with the white 8" search coil and shaft, and it has the red headphones. I need to find a new battery box door and gasket. You guys know any parts places where i can pick one up? Does the battery door for the newer one fit the one i have. The Unit i have looks the same as the newer ones, only difference i can tell is all the components are different.
After purchasing and getting this thing home i read the booklet. It says there is a blue desiccant in they LED window and if it turns white or light pink the control unit may have gotten moisture in it, and that it should be sent to fisher for repair/evaluation.
My desiccant is not blue, it is white, with maybe a slight pinkish hue. Everything seems to work fine though. Should i send it back to fisher, or just use it as is. I havent put it in water yet, but the guy i bought it from said it works fine. I did not pay a whole lot for this item. Any information on the aquanaut would be appreciated, such as, where to find videos, parts, etc.
