I always thought a pickerel was a pickerel.

Well, you know me. I had to look it up. There's two subspecies of the American pickerel: redfin range is from Quebec to Gulf coast, Mississippi to Florida. The grass pickerel is from the Great Lakes basin, from Ontario to Michigan, down the western Gulf Coast , from eastern Texas to the Mississippi. The way to tell is if it's fins were orangish red. Fyi... striped bass eat pickerel. Could use it as bait for the big one. :laughing9:

Finally back from fishing !! Monday through Friday at sea. Only came to the dock to drop off fish and get more ice. Fished out of key west all week. Glad to be home.

photo-863.JPG last of the black tips getting off loaded. It was a good trip !! We caught 2 fish that were 800 - 1000 pounds. We had to use the hydraulic hauler and all 3 of us pulling at the same time. No pics unfortunately. By this time I am in full gear and covered in blood and guts making it impossible to take a pic !!

Screenshot_2018-05-12-09-20-15.png piles of sharks all over the boat. Had to move some forward to get the boat on plane.

photo-864.JPG here is our support vehicle loaded to the max with sharks. The white box is the gold. Solid shark fins !! The blue boxes are loaded with a portion of the shark meat. We had to make 2 trips for the meat there was so much. I think we have at least 500 pounds of fin at 50 a pound, not bad for a weeks work !! We were poppin wheelies all the way back to key largo !!

photo-861.JPG shoveling ice !! I probaly shovel as much snow and ice as you snow birds do. And yes my mate adam did ride the shovel down the mountain !!!

Feisty buggers they are, kinda hard holding the rod and taking a pic.:tongue3:

I'll post em as I catch em.:laughing7:

Probably a good thing there's no pics. Probably ruin my appetite. :laughing7:

Sounds like an awesome trip for you! You are very fortunate to have a job that's more like fun.

:hello2:
