First weeks find

New to this and have been out three times. Found tons of junk and theses items, the button is what I'm curious about. Back is rusted and can see nothing in it, any idea?

Probably some sort of naval button. Maybe naval/maritime school? Welcome to the hobby. Beware, you might get addicted and next thing you know you're heading to the fields to dig at 2 in the morning and selling your car for a minelab ctx.

Nice hunt, congrats and welcome to the forum. Is your 1976 graduation tassle pendant made of gold? Companies like Jostens did make their rings and such in 10-14 karat gold now and then! Sub 8-)

Actually did not look that close at pendant, just put it box I keep finds in. May need to look?

Your button is probably a British Merchant Marine uniform button. A "coat-size" Navy button having an iron back strongly indicates it is not a Military-issue button.

BACK IN THE MID SEVENTYS I HAD A BIG OLD PEE COAT.
IT HAD ALMOST THE SAME BUTTONS..
