My finace and I (Team 'Tector) spent about 4 hours in a large park today. Modern change was plentiful in the common areas.
In an out-of-the-way area, high on a bluff overlooking the bay, she found a target. It wasn't overly strong. When I took the surface layer off it got real loud. About 6 inces down, the WWII Medal emerged from around my shovel's tip. At first, we both thought it was a gold coin. The Medal has more meaning to me though. It's probably not worth much $$, right? It's a European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal.
"The European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal was authorized Nov. 6, 1942, by Executive Order No. 9265 signed by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. The medal was issued to commemorate the service performed by personnel of the Navy, Marine Corps and Coast Guard..."
Also found this ladies' watch...says "SWISS" on the face and the font is one I recognize as having been prominent on some of dear old granny's clocks, etc. at her house.
We're going back in the morning to run the dog-doo gauntlet again.
